Your Vietnam e-Visa photo, taken at home

The e-Visa form asks for a 4 × 6 portrait on a white background. Take it at home: we check it and crop it to the right shape, ready to upload.

A live guide helps the person holding the phone. Your photo stays on this device.

Before you take it

  1. Someone else takes it, about 1.5 m away, phone at your eye level.
  2. Plain white wall, no patterns, no shadows. Face a window for soft, even light.
  3. No glasses, no hat. Face fully visible, eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
  4. Keep your head and shoulders in the photo, with space above your head. We crop it for you.

What we check and do

  • One face, no glasses, head straight and facing the camera, eyes open, neutral expression, plain light background, even lighting.
  • Head size: chin to top of head between 50% and 75% of the photo’s height. The form sets no number; this is the usual ID-photo framing.
  • We crop to a 4 × 6 portrait of 400 × 600 pixels, JPEG well under the 2 MB limit.
  • We never edit your face or background. The rules forbid it, and edited photos get refused.

What we can't check

  • Rimless glasses, glare, small shadows (we only catch a strong shadow on one side), hair covering the eyes: look at the photo yourself.
  • Whether the photo is less than 6 months old, and whether it looks like you today.

Our measurements are estimates. Only Vietnam’s Immigration Department decides whether a photo is accepted: we help you catch problems, we don't guarantee acceptance.

Can I take it at home?

Yes. You upload the portrait yourself on the official e-Visa site, evisa.gov.vn; no photographer is required. The form asks for a recent 4 × 6 photo, front view, white background, without glasses, as a JPG under 2 MB.

The official site is a web app we couldn’t read automatically, so these specs come from its instructions as quoted by several sources. Check the form when you apply.

We are not affiliated with the Government of Vietnam. The only official e-Visa site is evisa.gov.vn.
